More lovely floral blocks.

I’ve had a thought … if I combined the Floppy Petal and Petal Power blocks in a project file I could name it Floppy Petal Flowers.

read moreThe roses I have in my garden have flowered quite a bit this year, but I have to be quick to admire them … they are usually burnt by the end of the day.
At least these virtual roses will survive this summer’s hot weather.
read moreA very interesting design. I usually concentrate on square quilt designs, partly because we have a Queen size bed, and a queen size can be made a bit bigger for a king size bed. I am guessing that today’s designs would be suitable for a King single.
I think that with so many tiny pieces to applique it would make sense to embroider the blocks … is there a machine which will embroider 12 inch blocks?
read morePretty and dainty … and very feminine!
I can’t think of many blokes I know who would choose this for their bedroom.
I love the second design!
read moreI like the first design today, but wonder if anybody would bother doing all that work for a single bed?
The second design would fit a king single … usually reserved for single adults and teenagers rather than those in single digit age group.
read moreWonder if the sunflowers in the garden next door will grow and flower this year … I get to watch birds eating the seeds from my kitchen window.
I probably should change the butterflies to birds in this project file.
read moreI can only dream of an orderly garden, but I can keep virtual gardens neat and tidy.
Love the first design.
I like the second design too.
read morePretty and dainty, which is what we expect of fairies.
I have spent quite a few hours playing with the fairy dot blocks, and now have a library of 200 in which the basic floral has been twisted and tuned every which way. Once I put them into a quilt layout I can use something I designed as a border block turned inside out to be part of the diagonal border within the overall design.
I wonder how many virtual quilt designs could be made from the 200 blocks, and that is without using a wider mix of fabrics so ...
read moreA bit of contrast to the colouring of yesterday’s blocks!
I like the second design best … the change of border makes quite a difference. The first one was nice, but it faded away around the edge … the second design has a stronger finish.
read moreI like the applique, but love the quilting lines, and am going to play some more with this project file.
Love the second design, but I am wondering if I can mix up the quilting designs from these two designs. Could be interesting!
read moreI love to see a fair bit of quilting, but too much complex quilting detracts from the pieced and applique work which goes into making a quilt. The first design has quilting motifs based on the applique blocks, but maybe a little bit of space for cross hatching or just parallel lines would look better.
It is finals time so sport id featuring most of the time on the box, so as I was not in the mood to read last night I spent quite a bit of time looking at a quilt thrown over a chair right in my ...
read moreSort of looks like a couple of patches in my garden where the jonquils have gathered. Project for the future should be to draw some jonquils and daffodils.
I like the second one … very interesting.
read moreInteresting design, but probably a bit long for the average single bed.
I like the second design, and it is a bit shorter.
read moreI was playing with some flower designs when I thought that they looked a bit like a butterfly, so gave them a few tweaks and added a couple of stamens.
Mmm … I have a collection of butterfly applique designs … I wonder how many of them would work if I added a stem and some greenery!
read moreI couldn’t resist sharing this new project file, and setting myself a new challenge. If I can start sharing 25 new project files in 6 months, lets see if I can keep it up for the next 6 months … one a week.
I like these two designs, and suspect I will find quite a few more with the blocks I have already added to the file, and by comparison to some of the floral cross collections I have built up, there a lot more blocks to add to this one.
